So, without any preparation (even though I had intended to prepare), I got a 630 on the literature. I entered the test thinking I would do much worse because it is one of the harder subject tests. I don't know how good the curve is but nonetheless I was pleasantly surprised...

None of the schools I'm applying to in the fall require subject tests - I'm just doing them to enhance my application. With that said, do you think I should take the literature again and aim for a higher score? Or do you think 630 is impressive enough? I'm contemplating whether this score will really make a difference in their decision...not that it's horrible but it doesn't stand out as particularly impressive - especially to schools that don't ask for SAT II scores.

I could also take a different one in the Fall....I just don't know what would be the most beneficial thing for me to do. My other SAT subject test score was a 710 on U.S. history - so I'll definitely submit that.

Any input on what I should do regarding SAT II's? Please help!

Also, if it's any help, the schools I'm applying to (so far) are Loyola Maryland, SUNY Binghamton, Rutgers, The College of New Jersey, Northeastern, SUNY Geneseo and most likely American University.

Yeah I got a 640 so I’m wondering the same thing.

They really should put a disclaimer on the Lit exam. Absolutely brutal test…

Yeah, I don’t know if it’s even worth retaking…

The lit test is kind of hit or miss. I took it in the fall and got a 720 without studying. I think if you’re not one of those people that “gets” literature then you shouldn’t retake it, esp if you don’t need it for college admissions.

What would you guys do if you already sent the Literature score via the 4 free score reports? My other two scores were decent but I got a 640 on Literature. Should I worry about it? The schools I sent the scores to were top 15 schools and I am planning on doing premed, so does Literature really matter anyway?

I know what you mean. I came out of the AP test knowing I aced it. Then I took this, and got raped. I thought the subject tests were supposed to be easier? God, it was nasty…no idea how I pulled off a 690. Is that any good?

Um, seeing as how brutal the lit exam was, I wouldn’t retake it, unless you want to go through that again. Take another test that your familiar with, like Math I, or Bio if you took AP bio. Bio wasn’t too bad.

I didn’t prepare and got a 700. I think I’ll retake though; if I study a little, my score should (hopefully) go up. I think a 630 is fine for the schools you are applying to, especially since you have a good U.S. History score; that being said, if you feel like you can improve, you should retake. If you study for it, you have a good shot of improving. At least, that’s what I’m hoping. :P

The only other ones I would considering taking is Math II because I’m taking AB Calc next year. I guess I could’ve taken chemistry when I had the chance (since I just finished the course) but honestly I don’t remember enough to do well in the fall. I haven’t taken Bio since freshman year and don’t remember much, plus I’m not a science person. I hated physics. I was thinking of taking Italian but they don’t offer it frequently.

Oh well, I think I’ll just stick with the 630. I don’t think I can do much better being that you cannot significantly prepare for Lit. I’ll possibly take the Math, depends how stressed I am in the next coming months…

I mean seriosuly…THIS BLODDY LIT TEST IS ING ME OFF. I MEAN I KEEP DOING PRACTICE TESTSS… AND I DONT * IMPROVE!!! PLEASE LEMME KNOE WHICH ARE THE EASIEST PRACTICE TESTS, THE ONES I CAN LEARN WITHIN A MONTH OR 2 MONTHS.
