is the SAT II literature test hard? i have to decide what my third SAT II will be, after chem and math 2. (i am not taking physics until senior year, so that's not an option)

its not too hard if you can read and comprehend kinda quickly. heres a tip: before i read the passage, i would just read the first question about that passage to get an idea of what it will be about and then read the passage and find the answer...i dunno it worked for me. why dont you take writing?

I think the SAT II: Literature is VERY hard. You can't cram for it, at all. You either get it or you don't. And who "gets it"? People who read Shakespeare for fun.

Yup, that's probably the reason why so few people take it.

DON'T TAKE IT. I consider myself to be a huge literary geek and I found it incredibly hard. I'm retaking it in June.

wow...everyone's saying it was hard...maybe it was because it was my last test (i took 3) and my brain was so tired that it made me think it was easy...eh i dont know..ill post up my score when i get it

Yeah, I consider myself to be a huge literature geek, too.

But still, the vast majority of people, including myself, will find that they are in for MAJOR brain workout while taking this test!!!

ONLY TAKE IT if you're the kind of person who reads t.s. eliot, james joyce, sylvia plath, and other similarly challenging authors FOR FUN.

The SAT II Literature is an aptitude test in the truest sense--since you can't really prep for it, you either understand the passage/poem or you don't. For practicing for it, buy prep books (Barrons', Collegeboard's, Princeton Review's) and do tests under timed condition. Also brush up on some simple literary terms if you don't know them (such as theme, mood, allusion, alliteration, allegory, etc.).

Even though I scored reasonably high on the SAT I Verbal section (750-98th %ile), I only got a 670 on the SAT II Lit, so I was pretty disappointed.
For many of the questions, several answers seemed to make sense, and it was tough ruling some of the answer choices as being totally wrong.

Just think of it as the SAT I Critical Reading on steroids...:)

I agree with everyone. Don't take it.

I did no prep besides take one practice test: 760. And only a 4 on the english comp AP. I do read a lot (usually a book a week). That probably helped...

See, don't take it unless you're a bookworm!!! You will regret it if you do!!! Colleges will think your english courses were a joke if you don't do well!!!
