SAT II Literature

How is this test? From some I hear that it is difficult, from others that it is easy. Is it similar to the critical reading on the SAT I? I got an 800 on the CV on the May SAT, am I prepared for SAT II Lit?

I got an 800 on both CV and Lit, so I would say they are similar. Lit is slightly harder because the passages tend to be more "advanced," and half of the passages are poetry. If you have a natural aptitude for english, which appears to be the case for you, it shouldn't be too difficult. Just look over a few practice problems to familiarize yourself with the type of questions asked.

Like ampersand said, the Lit is harder if you haven't been exposed to much poetry. Overall, it is a bit more difficult, but I would definitely take it as it really is not too bad. I got an 800 on the CR on the March SAT and a 740 on the Lit in May (I'll retake in October). Good luck!

hmm...really. Do you think that was an easy 800? I got an 800 on the old SAT Verbal, and do really like writing/english/stuff like that...so how hard would it be to get an 800 on Lit? What is the curve like?

anyone else?

I just took a practice test out of the REal SAT IIs for Lit just to see how tough it is. I have never taken a course or anything. I scored a 780 on it. I also scored a 770 on SAT Critical Reading, so I really don't think any extra preparation is needed for SAT II Lit.

How would you compare SAT Lit with AP Lit or English?

I found the Lit SAT more challenging than the SAT I... it was a fun paper though, and if you read widely you'll be more than prepped for it. I took Lit w/o prep and got 800, but I really love literature so I'm probably not a good gauge.

I've heard that the SAT II Lit is at the same level as the AP Eng Lit multiple choice. Haven't taken the AP so I can't say.
