So, I'm planning on taking the SAT II's in the spring and I'm trying to decide on whether to take Math I or Math II. This is because I heard from one person that colleges prefer Math II due to it being higher level math. However, I have not heard this from anyone else or seen it anywhere else. Can anyone attest to the validity of that statement?

it is true that it looks better to colleges.

If you have a background that goes up to or past pre-calc and are good at math, then take Math II. It has a much better curve than math 1 (you can get 4 or 5 wrong for an 800, while with math I, you can get one or none wrong).

If you really want to though, you can just take both for a bit more money and see which one you do better on.

Take a College Board practice test in each level. The curve on the Level 2 test is MUCH stronger, so you may actually get a higher score on that one even if it seems like you did much worse. If your score on the Level 2 is somewhat close to your score on the Level 1, then focus on preparing for the Level 2.

Thanks to both of you for the information. I will probably end up taking the Math II test now.
