Hey guys I just gave my subject tests on 28th January. My scores are :
Chemistry: 800
Math 2 : 670
Physics : 720

I need to repeat Math 2 in May. I need advice on which book should I use. I used Barrons last time, and I was told if I'm scoring around 650 in Barrons practice tests then I'll score around 800 in math 2. Well that surely wasn't the case! Anyways, which book should I use this time? Princeton? Or should I stick with Barrons?

Well I used Barron’s to study their lesson and I was getting low 700’s on their practice exams but ended up getting an 800 on the real one; however, a lot of their lessons were unnecessary because I never saw the material in any other book’s practice exams or on the actual test. I recommend you do Princeton Review’s tests and their lessons and the practice exams on Sparknotes. They are pretty similar to the actual exam.

Exactly! I prepared using Barrons and at times I got so confused coz the test was nothing like Barrons. Anyways, I guess I’m going to try Princeton this time.

Hi, I got 800 in Jan,28th 2012 in Math level 2, and i’m taking honors precal right now, but I started to learn BC already.
Are you in precalculus or calculus?
If you don’t take precalculus, probably you can’t achieve more than 750.
Books: barron is not good at all…

I got an 800 and i never took pre calc
The only things pre calc could teach is probably conics and coordinate geometry but most schools do not even touch on the subject.
The best way to prep is to learn the concepts that is the only way to do well on subject tests. It’s not like the reasoning test where practice will make perfect.

I have to disagree with all of you. Yes, Barron’s was difficult, but that’s the point. If you challenge yourself before the test, then you will be well-prepared for the test.
And BLN823, it isn’t palpable that your score could magically jump from 650 to 800. A more reasonable jump would be from 730 to 800. I don’t think Baron’s at fault here
