SAT II: Math I vs. Math II

The late registration deadline for the Jan. SAT is today! I need one more SAT II and was considering math. However, I can't decide between Math I or II. I have heard that it is easier to get a perfect score on the Math II (in terms of it being curved--for ex. you could get 3,4 problems wrong and still end up with a 800) than the Math I (1 prob. wrong, and you are already down to 7XX).

*FYI-I am a senior in AP Calc. AB (which I'm not doing too hot in, a "B") and the highest I got on the SAT I Math section was a 640.

Any thoughts on which I should take?

*FYI 2- I am also posting this in the SAT/ACT forum. Sorry, I need replies. :P

You can miss 6-8 on Math II and attain a score of 800. The curve is nice. Since you're taking AP Calc, you should have some good background on trig. So I would suggest taking it, after a few weeks of review.

"You can miss 6-8 on Math II and attain a score of 800."

I missed 0, but I didn't answer 3 and got a 780.

One of my friends got higher on her Math II than Math I... I'd go for it, if you're the type who's good at math... but if you're like me, and managed to get a 530 on the math I, maybe not.

"I missed 0, but I didn't answer 3 and got a 780."

You probably took 1C and didn't know it.

Yea, you can miss 5 or 6 and get an 800. If you are in calc you should just do II. Just review a bit.

Are you sure because I only got a 780.

Anyways, if your good at math take the II. My math I is only a 760 (I'm in calc BC...), but my II is a 780 while I was sick and tired.

"Anyways, if your good at math take the II."
"I'd go for it, if you're the type who's good at math... "

^I'm sorry, but I am in a stuck because I am not sure what is being GOOD at math. The question is more like..am I good ENOUGH?

SAT I MATH = 640.

MATH I or II?

(thanks for the replies though :))

Did you get an A in pcalc last year? If yes, definately take the II. If no, I think take math I because no A in pcalc + not spectacular sat I math = math II may be too hard for you.

Not being good at math means staring at a problem, reading the directions, and having no idea what the answer should look like.

Example:

Good at math:

1 + 1 = 2 !!!

Not good at math:

1 + 1 = ... oh crap are they looking for a number? or am I supposed to graph it? Maybe find the derivative? Uhh... okay okay I need an answer... umm... 72x squared!!!

Yeah. That's kind of exaggerated. But you catch my drift.

I vote for Math II.

You should get some of the practice booklets and see how you do on the Math level 1 versus the Math level 2. I know that you are thinking that you don't have time because you have to sign up now, but you can change the test you are taking on the test day. They always have spare tests available and you can change the Subject test. It says so at this website:
http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/testday.html

There is an issue about level 1 versus 2 now that the New SAT is being used. Since they included slightly higher math on the New SAT, some colleges are not accepting the Math SAT II level 1 test.
