SAT II Math IC or Math IIC?

I'm currently taking all the hard math classes I can (I'm taking AP Calc BC right now but might drop to AB).. But I REALLY don't like math (i'm more of a history/art person.. not even English, just history/Art person) but I read that Math IIC has higher average because of all the nice curves...

So I don't like math but took all the necessary classes.. Should I just take Math IIC instead of Math IC although it's harder just for the higher curves? Or should I just take MAth Ic with stuff I'm MORE comfortable with and make higher grade on my own?

Also.. Is SAT II math easier than SAT I math? My bro told me that SAT II math was easier (he took Math IIC.. he LOVES math.. maybe that's why) can anybody verify that?

P.S. just to add on... If i took Korean with listening will it be good for anything? I'm Korean btw.. but I came to US when I was like 8-9 and on the SAT II they ask if u came after u are 10.. I was smart enough to remember the whole language instead of forgetting it like most ppl... I dunno, if I took it it would be a really easy test for me (like you guys would be taking English test.. and they would be asking really easy questions)

Also, is US history test really easy? (I heard it's easier than the AP test.. I got 3 on my AP test, but pretty sure I could've gotten 4 if i didn't mess up the 2nd essay.. plus I missed a semester of that class n still managed to pass the AP test) I'm going to take that as well.... thanx!

You might want to take a look at the SATII requirements of the particular schools you're applying to; some will accept either MathIC or IIC, while others specify MathIIC.

Try reviewing the SATII Math for both tests you're considering & see how you do with both. Also, you can look at the SAT II US History test & see how that goes for you as well; my son got a 770 for the test & 4 for the AP test. (It's easier to take closer in time to when you studied the material.)
Sounds like you should do very well on the Korean test & it could be helpful.

do SAT Math 2C! =)

i was in the same boat..i ended up taking the IIC, and was happy with my chioce..

yes, the 2c has a much nicer curve...

plus, there is less geo. on the IIC, which is another reason i took it...

Vman51... However, I'm good at geometry and suck alot in algebra.. I was getting A's in my honor geometry class until we started doing algebra reviews... But really, I'm guessing IC has less algebra thing going on?

every math has the basics of algebra...

but what i would suggest is...

go to barnes and noble, look at two study guides (preferrably from the same company), one for the IC, another for the IIC...see what looks better to you...

just keep in mind wth the IIC, you could get like 7 questions wrong, and still get an 800...the curve is reall nice...

hope that helped...

US is not "really easy". World is easier.

Take Math IIC, since you'll be more familiar with the problems.

Don't take Korean. Take something you actually learned in high school.

Def take Math 2 -- you will have forgotten a lot of stuff on the Math 1 test, and it drops ~ 30 points with every missed answer. But, to be sure, get ahold of CB's SAT Subject Test practice book, and try a practice test from each Math level. In an hour or two, you'll know which test will give you the highest potential score.

fwiw: the UC's will no longer accept Math 1.

I haven't heard of a college requiring math IIC if you are not going into sciences/engineering

iceD:

the UC's don't require Math 2 as one of the two required subject tests. But, if someone wants to take a Math subject test, it must be Math 2 - they won't even look at Math 1, and will reject any app that only has Math 1 + one other subject test.

I think the UC rationale is that Alg II problems are now included on the SAT I math.

Wow, thanks for that nice piece of info, blubayou (although I'm not even going to try out for UC's anymore since I'm out of state) I guess I'll take math IIC...
