I'm rising sophomore this year and I'm going to take IB Math SL Yr. 1, which is Pre-Calculus. Would it be okay to take the SAT II Math Level 1 and/or 2 during this coming school year or near the end of the school year?

Take level 2.

It’s okay, the core of mathematics is Algebra I and II. My schools lets kids skip Pre-Calculus and go straight to Calculus from Alg 2.

Level 2 if you really like math. It’s more challenging and fun.

So it’s really not worth it doing Level 1 then?

It’s easier to get an 800 on Level 2 than on Level 1.

Just to add, I think you can get 7 wrong and still get an 800, the test questions are harder but the it’s graded easier, getting half of the questions right can still get you a 600.

To clarify, you can usually omit 7 or get 6 wrong (raw score 43) for an 800. The curve sometimes ends up ±1 points different, but it’s probably a good idea to aim for 5 or less wrong for an 800.

Math1 has a horrible curve. If you are doing good in math, definitely good for math2. It just need up to pre-calc level skills. Don’t take both as it would be a waste of money.

Ok. I’ll take Level 2 this spring.
