***SAT II Math October 2016 Discussion Thread***

@introver Ohhh

Im super pissed. I didnt have time to answer two I knew the answer to. I hope it doesnt hurt me too much. it was the mars one which was like 3.88 and the cos(x)= something equivalent which i believe the answer was like cos((5pi/3)+x)

Lol confused though. Is x^3 symmetrical about the origin?

What was the answer to the min problem where it gave you the quadratic equation and asked for the min in thousands? I put 40

@CrimsonZa it is but it isnt in this case because of the +1

@qwertyqwaf99 I think I put 10 for that because the zenith of a quadratic is always -b/2a and I believe that was 40/(2*2). I don’t remember the equation though

youre right. I was thinking about the problem wrong

I’m so glad I took AP Calculus before this exam… there were a few that I would’ve been completely clueless on if it weren’t for my knowledge of derivatives/limits

@please122 13/25 was for the odd number question not the light intensity

haha yeah Im taking ap calculus right now and that reminds me, what did you guys put on the question that was (2x^2 + x + 2) / (x-1) I put 2x + 3 as a guess but I didnt know how to correctly solve it

It asked for what equation is similar to the original equation or something

2x-3 i think. You do long division

I didn’t know the answer to that one @please122

Oh lol i’m so stupid @qwertyqwaf99 thank you

dw i missed it too. I realized I did it wrong as time was called. happened on 3 questions

@qwertyqwaf99 thought the numerator had no factors. Damn I’m so clueless. Does 2x-3 by x-1 give the function ?

The question was which one does it behave most like

I was sitting there trying to use l’hopital’s rule because it asked what the function would be most similar to as it approached largers numbers, so i tried plugging in infinity

@qwertyqwaf99 It is 10 because if you take the first derivative of the cost function you end up with 4x-40=0 since the slope at the minimum is 0. After that you get 4x=40 and then x=10

it actually doesnt i thought the function was (2x^2+x-6)/(x+2). I must be mixing questions up
