Hi!

I got a 740 on the SAT II Math 2. This sucks,since I thought I would get much higher.
I have a 740 in Bio and Chem as well.

Can I get into ivies with these scores? I'm retaking the SAT I in October, should I retake the Math 2 in November?

Yea, I’m a rising senior. My SAT 1 score isn’t bad - I’d just like to retake it anyway. I don’t think I’ll have time to retake the sciences, but I could do Math 2 in November (in time for ED, I checked) and see if I want to retake Physics or something.

@hellocollegelife Actually, the Math II curve is one of the hardest (or possibly the hardest) of the SAT IIs. Math II is usually -5 or -6; others are usually around -8. But still, so many people get 800s on the Math II.

(This is copied from my post in another thread.)
Retake. Most people applying to Ivies get 800s on Math II, so you have room to improve your score. Also, many colleges require that you send in Math II as one of your subject test scores. Try the Barrons book. It’s difficult, but if you can master it, you can get your 800.

^ waitingforivy, same!!! I thought I’d get a 780+ but then I see a 740…

I’m pretty sure I’m retaking it in Oct.

@karokemachine your wrong.
For example, biology is minus 1 or 2
Math 1 is -1=790
USH is also harder than Math 2, Math 2 is one of the EASIEST tests, if not the easiest, to get an 800 on. Look at the percentiles, excluding many of the language tests which have alot of native speakers take the tests, 12% of the people that take that test get an 800, more than any other non language test, and more than french, german and spanish. According to this chart from collegeboard <a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;
And i don’t think any of the tests are minus 8=800. I’m pretty sure math is pretty much the most heavily weighted test.
