I'm no fan of math, but I just got my subject test score from the 2c test in June. I miraculously got a 800 somehow! I'm a rising junior and am trying to grind on my SAT I but for some reason I'm not doing so hot in the SAT I math section (I got 660 on my last practice test and CR's been my best-- what a twist).

I know they're different tests and all, but my failure at SAT I math but my success with the subject test throws me off. Appreciate any suggestions/help!! :)

SATII math is more straightforward math, where SATI tries to trick you more. You need to become familiar with CollegeBoard’s tricks; it’s probably not actually the math that’s tripping you up, but the questions.

if you are capable of solving qs in SAT IIC
you probably are capable of solving all the porblems in SAT I math
you just need to concentrate during the test
and peruse all the qustions carefully and construct right equations

Agreed with eddiepoo; unless you for some reason need to refresh any of the material covered on SAT I, you have all the tools you need to do well. I think it’s a matter of reading the questions very carefully, constructing the right equations, and doing the problems quickly enough so that you have time go check your answers.

if you don’t have many background in precal, start with PR and Kap
both are quite similar with the actual tests in terms of difficulty
Best choice would be sparknotes on web
they have 5 tests that are a little harder than the actual ones
just sign in sparknotes and search for SAT II tests
some of the tests have technical problems when I solved them
but they were quite useful considering that they were free
Last is the Barrons I personally don’t recommned this book
I am in top 3 in math of my school and I even got 580 in that book
and 800 in real test
the best math guy in our school never got under 700 in Barrons
but got 790 in the actual test…
so unless you are natinoal or international math guy, don’t even bother
trying Barrons cause it covers too many unrelated questions

Yep! I’ve been studying more this week and my math score went up 90! :)

For the subject test, I used Kaplan which was very similar to the actual test. Barrons just had some bizarre questions that sorta killed my ego the week before the test haha. I’d stick with Kaplan. I took a version of pre-calc honors at school this year so it helped refresh my memory and stuff. I didn’t use any programs but I hear they really help. goodluck! :)
