how good are you generally in school in math?...i guess you also considered math ii vs. math i, so i guess you know that if you took higher math classes math ii has the advantage of a big curve, while math i has a tiny curve

i heard 700+ is fine, so it's just the math score...and just retaking math shouldn't be too bad right?

i agree with twochickens -- retake math. you might also want to retake either bio or lit (but i wouldn't retake BOTH). which subject are you stronger in/like more? retake that one and i bet you'll get a higher score.

retaking lit is probably easier than retaking bio, because with lit, I suspect you'll do better the second time around (used to the format, etc, types of questions, and previous knowledge is not really necessary), whereas with bio, a lot of the material (previous knowledge obvi necessary) will have floated out of your mind.

lol, or maybe that's just my pathetic ability to retain information.

yeah, do retake math.

thanx for everyone's suggestions and for replying!

i'm going to try to retake math then.. and also literature too.

do people usually do worse second time round on bio?

yubi, for math take IIC becuase it's more useful also I would retake bio.

Make sure you're taking the right math test for your backround... even people with 800 on Math 2 might get a 600-700 on Math 1 simply because they forgot a lot of it... it's really not a case of which is harder, but of which fits your backround. Also use the first time you took the test to learn from it. What did you not remember or have trouble with? Try to work on that. Your score won't bounce up 100 points just by retaking, you need to prep and improve your skills too.

thanx for your replies

so that means i should retake all of them? that's what i thought i should do, but i'm quite discouraged since it means some problems for my host family on my exchange program. i think i'm going to retake all though. would it be fine to study bio from my AP bio book?

kcastelle - i took precalc this year, but i totaaaally forgot everything from algebra II (although it was applied). of course i'm going to prepare lol but thanx for the suggestion anyway.

if you take an sat II, do you have to put the score on the application, or can you just not mention it?

you dont HAVE to put it there, but the schooll you are applying to sees all of the tests you took when you ask the College Board to send the transcript to the school

In one session you might as well take three subject tests to make the full use of your time. I would suggest redoing Literature (no work involved, just read loads and have a clear mind on the day), Maths I again and then take Maths II as well and see which you do better on.

Also it might be an idea to pick the one you want to do best in first in the exam room, as I find I'm seriously lacking concentration by the last exam. So whichever one you find easiest, leave to the end.

Loodeloop, the policy on cancelling scores is annoying. You have to cancel all your scores from that testing day (the only exception is math if your calculator broke and you have proof) and you of course can't cancel anything after you see your scores. The best you can do is retake so that your top scores are high. You can't hide the low ones, but at least adcoms will only consider the top one.
