**SAT II November Biology Discussion**

I’m taking the test in December. There seems to be a general consensus that Barron’s prep was not on target for your SATs so now that you guys have taken the test what resources/topics do you recommend I use??

@kjhnbgfvdcrftgyh aahh i skipped like a whole experiment and i know i’ve answered a couple of questions wrong…probably gonna retake the exam

@DDOuser have you taken AP bio? It seems like those who have taken it are the ones who are the most prepared for the exam. I took a regular, but intensive biology course, prepped vigorously with Barron’s, felt confident going into the exam, and was bitterly disappointed by how difficult it was. I was pretty sure I’d score above a 750, but now I’ll be lucky as hell if I get 700+. I will most likely be retaking it in January which sucks because I’m a senior. If I were you, I would seriously consider NOT taking the bio subject test at all. If you must, however, I’d probably purchase an AP Biology prep book and study off of that, no joke.

I took ap bio in my sophmore year and got 4 on the ap exam. This is my senior year. Unfortunetly I have a bad habit of cramming before the exam so I usually forget a lot of stuff after the exam.

@DDOuser
Princeton Review is your best friend. That and add some barron’s topics and your good to go. Imo PR covered more than 85% of the exam

I’m currently using sparknotes but it also doesn’t seem to be addressing topics you guys say you had trouble with. How much does Barron’s and PR cost? My family is low income. Not enough to qualify for waiver but enough for me to be price conscious.

check with your friends or teachers if they have a book you can borrow? I borrowed mine from my cousins
or maybe check your school or local library. I know my school library has some sat/ap prep books :slight_smile:

Since so many people ask what the curves are for SAT 2 tests, I have posted them below for ranges of 700+. It saves a lot of thread space. All curves are taken from the Blue Book for ALL SAT 2’s/Math SAT 2’s/History SAT 2’s. Note that these are approximations(around + - 4 question difference) and based of raw scores(ie. after including the 25% for wrong penalty:

question: so if i skipped 5 on the biology m test, how many maximum amount of questions should i have gotten wrong to receive a 750?

around 5-6
do your math on your own next time and stop being lazy!

A friend of mine who took the test in June and got 780 told me she used Barron’s, Princeton, and Kaplan. Plus she took the AP bio course over the year.

14 days left!

8 days more!

6 days left!

how do you guys think you did :confused:

@mdorbust 720~750 uhhhhhh i hope the curve is lenient :frowning:

@Wreckdecembersat I hope so too!!! We’ll see soon though. Would you retake if you got below a 700?

@Wreckdecembersat
Praying that -3/4 is 800 >.>
If so then i have a good shot at it

@mdorbust Probably not. This is already my second time taking this test. I don’t want to give College Board my snack money any more :smiley: Hoping the curve will be blessing so I can hit 750!

@Anh7609 I left 5 blank and guessed a lot. (about 6 or 7 at least but so far I’ve gotten 4 of them right) Luck be a lady please next Tuesday morning lol
