I signed up for the chemistry SAT because when I did a scanning of the science tests, it looked like the one I would do the best on. I've been working on a chem sat book, and we never even covered about two thirds of the material in there. How important are the SAT II scores if the rest of your application is alright? I'm going to be lucky to pull a 600 on the chem with what I learned in class.

Are you taking a Chem class now? If so, wait until May or June to take the SAT II.

yup. just dnot take it right now then

You can always cancel your score and take it later.

Even a 600 won't look good on an MIT app.

I took chemistry last year. I signed up for chemistry because I'm talking physics right now and deffinatly could not do too well on the test. I cant exactally take it later because I'm a senior.. and the application deadline is steadily approaching. We honestly did not cover about two thirds of the material that the test covers. I'm from a very small school.. we dont exactally have stellar programs.
Ack!

ouch.

try taking eng lit or something else that doesnt really require much factual knowledge

I am. I'm taking Math 1c (I figured scoring better on a lesser test would be better than bombing a harder one).. literature, and Chemistry. Whats the lit test like? Reading passages and answering q's? If it is, I should be set.

lit test is the hardest test ever...

i'd probably score higher on modern hebrew (and no, i dont speak/write/read hebrew)

Get a prep book (PR is a good one) and go over the topics. Work through some practice tests.

You've got some time, use it!

my friend took lit and she got only 20 pts lower than verbal. my other friend got around the same as er verbal, so i'd say take lit if you're good at verbal..that's what i'll be doin later (and yes, I know MIT doesn't look)

You don't have to take the test(s) you signed up for. Switch to ones you're more comfortable with.

I've been working out of prep books. I can cram alot of the chemistry down before saturday (when I'm taking it) and that should help out alot. Math I should be fine with, and lit.. I need to go over it so I'm comfortable. Unfortunatly, chem is probably the test out of the sciences I'm going to be most comfortable with. What we did in class, I have down. I cant believe how much we didnt cover though.

If it seems like I'm rushing everything.. I am. I didn't realize MIT was just within my reach untill recently, so I'm rushing to get the things done that I need to apply.
