SAT II Physics or Bio????

So I am taking subject tests in decemeber, but I'm having trouble decding if I should take Biology or Physics. I got a B in Physics last year and am taking AP Physics this year so far with a high B. I took Bio 3 years ago and i got an A. I was originally going to take physics subject test without a doubt, however I took some practice questions for the Bio test on college board and I did very well for not taking it in 3 years. I really do not know which one to take. Please help me decide!!

Physics would be more impressive.

But which one do you think i would do better on? I know i tok physics recently so that’s a plus but Biology is more memorization so i feel that it would be easier to study for.

Take a practice test in each… only takes about 2 hours total.

Ummm… if biology is more memorization, I believe it would more difficult to study for in a limited amount of time. However, this is variable since it comes down to different students. If you’re taking AP Physics and it’s a recent course, taking the SAT II for it would make more sense and be more relevant. Taking the SAT II Biology isn’t such a good idea if you’ve taken the course years ago and have forgotten a lot. Of course, this, again, differs for various students.

I’d have agree w/Greedisgood (btw, greed is NOT good): take practice tests for each subject and see what you’re more comfortable with. If there are too many things in biology that you’re scratching your head for and wasting too much time trying to remember or “get”, then physics is the better choice. Good luck, and hopefully, you’ll do fine with whichever. :)

I’m assuming you too Biology I 3 years ago? The SAT Bio covers a bit more material that what you learn in a typical Bio I class, plus you may have forgotten a good bit of the material. In my case, I had a very good AP Biology class, so I took the Subject Test right after school ended and got a 800. It was comparable to my quarterly exams at school. Note my AP Bio class was REALLY hard. No one had an A without the extra credit. Still, most of us made 5’s on the AP.

For Bio, an 800 is basically getting everything right. I don’t know necessarily how hard the Physics test is, but you can get an 800 with 66/75-- either the test is easy, or very difficult.

I looked at the physics and Biology exams on sparknotes (they have free practice exams for both) before when trying to decide between the two. Among the sciences I thought chemistry was the easiest but I did quite well in the AP class/exam so it may just be me.

I took both physics and biology (honors level class in each case) and when looking at the tests on sparknotes briefly it was VERY obvious that biology was the way to go. Of course I wasn’t planning on preparing at all since I forgot I was taking the subject tests until the day before (smart me). The practice physics test covered much more than what the honors level class (which focused mainly on mechanics… and more mechanics) covered. The biology definitely covered much more than the Bio class covered too (a ton more of anatomy, our body has WAY too many glands from adrenal to pituitary… guh) but it was more manageable than physics which went into things like electric/magnetic fields, vector operations, and modern physics like relativistic effects (length contraction and such).

So, unless you plan on devoting yourself to studying physics in preperation for your test you may fair better in biology. Honestly I didn’t take either exam in full prior to testday (I did go with Biology and got a 670 just from what I remembered from freshman year) so I might be being too harsh on physics but it was harder than I expected it would be so I didn’t go through with it.

Of course, physics is supposed to have a much more generous curve and supposed to look more impressive to boot. It’s up to you and with preparation you could do quite well in either one, but I’d recommend biology over physics.

Bio-it’s so much easier
