For the SAT II Physics do you have to know both the material in physics C: Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism. I am going to be a junior and I will take Mechanics next year and I hoping to take the SAT II in June but I am unsure because I don't know if you have to know the material in both Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism. If you do, then do you think that I could learn this material by using a prep book, or is a formal class necessary?

The test is approximately 36-42% mechanics, 18-24% E/M, 15-19% optics, then the rest is thermodynamics/modern physics/relativity. So yes, a good portion of the exam is E/M. It will be difficult without learning any E/M, but it’s certainly possible with a good prep book.

Basically you need to know physics B level e&m, so you don’t have to know a lot of stuff in c e&m.
