I notice a lot of people take the Math II test... Is there a benefit for taking the Math II vs. the Math I? Or how about science?

MIT has no preference, but people generally feel that the Math II test has a more generous curve than Math I.

What do you mean by generous curve? I’m not to familiar with the SAT subject test.

For a given score, you can miss more questions on Math II compared with Math I.

That is to say, if you take two people, one of whom got a 750 on Math II and the other of whom who got a 750 on Math I, the person who took Math II will have missed more questions on the test.

But fundamentally, this is a very minor effect. You should take the test for which you feel best-prepared.

Hmm… Interesting, I could probably easily find this out elsewhere but I might as well ask here. How much “harder” is the Math II vs the Math I. In terms of levels of math on the test?

Math II is slightly more advanced (covers up to pre-calculus) but is still much easier than pre-calculus tests such as the AMC12. Just like molliebatmit said, the scaled curve for Math II is more generous; I’ve heard you can miss 5 or 6 questions and still get 800.
