If i am a non native speaker and i take the spanish subject test, is this good or bad for colleges?
*non native for Spanish
If you do well on it, say 700+, it will be very impressive. Note there is both a listening and a non-listening (solely written work) version of the test. The listening one is only given in November, I believe.
It’s fine for a non-native/non-heritage speaker to submit a Spanish Subject Test. Unless the college specifies a specific pair of tests, a score on the Spanish test is no better and no worse than the same score on USH, as an example.
Correct, although for admissions purposes, it does not matter which one is submitted, as long as it’s not both.
Obviously a good score will be better on apps, but keep in mind to make sure it makes sense. It depends on what your future goals/intended major is going to be. If you want to study Spanish or something in that area, the subject test will definitely help. But if you’re not going remotely in that area, maybe consider taking another. I don’t think taking the test will be “bad” unless you do poorly.
Looking at you other posts, it looks like your want to go into Engineering. Most would suggest Math II and a Science.
If a good score on that SAT II will mean that you are exempt from the foreign language graduation requirement at one or more of your targets, then do take it.
