So are they required or not? I heard many different sides to this. According to Collegeboard it is required, but I could've sworn that UVA said it is recommended to take them. Don't kill me.

Mr Sinister, seriously. You can find most everything you need to know about the application process on the UVA website, especially the FAQ section. http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/faq.html The UVA admissions/application blogs are also very helpful.

UVA strongly recommends that you take two SAT II Subject Tests of your choice.

Never Mind. Thanks.

My D's friend was admitted to UVA early decision. When my D asked her what she got on her SAT II, she answered "what's that?" She ended up taking them later in the Spring. But as you can see they were not a factor in her admission.

they're used for placement; however, if you're out of state, you had better be doing everything in your control to get in - not taking sat ii's out of laziness would probably be a bad decision. stop complaining about taking tests, it's an hour of your life, and might make a difference, so you should be worried about doing everything you can to get in, not how to best slack off and still get in.

Also would it be okay to take the SAT 2s AFTER you've got your admissions for placement? Also same thing about the SAT 1 cuz I know that you can get out of the writing reqs with 700+ in CR and/or writing. Any advice?

Just take the SAT I and SAT II's. It would it do more harm than help if you don't take the tests.
