I am planning on applying to engineering at JHU under RD. I will have Math and US History by Dec. However, my school only offers AP Science for seniors so I am taking AP Bio, and planned on taking the test in Jan by self studying the second half of it. I know they are optional, by for an engineering major, maybe BME, will this plan work? Also, some schools only want chem or physics for engineers. Can I used Bio?

Since SAT II subject exams are not required for applicants to Johns Hopkins University, only recommended, you may choose any scores you want. If you plan on applying for an Engineering program then there is a strong recommendation that one of your exams be Math 2 and another be a Natural Science ... the third exam can be anything you want.

If your plan is to apply to BME then you should seriously consider taking 3 SAT subject exams -- our top recommendations for BME applicants is Math 2, Physics, and the third exam should be another science.

Remember these are only recommendations and in the end the decision you make about which tests to take and submit with your application is yours to make and will reveal much about you as an academic student in the app. review.

Finally, review the Note on Standardized Test Dates at the bottom of this page re: sending January exams:

Ok...so JHU will most likely use my January SAT II Score. Is that what the link means?

We can not guarantee that January scores will arrive in time for RD review, but if they do they will be used.
