I know that SAT II's aren't required if you take the ACT (which is what I took), but would it make a big difference in my admissions chances if I did send in an SAT II? I haven't taken one yet, but I'm confident that I'd be able to do pretty well on at least one or two of the subject tests. Also, I'm a rising senior and I plan on applying Early Decision, so do I really have time? If I'm not mistaken the next test date is in October, but how early could I get my scores?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm so undecided about this, and I'd appreciate some advice.

To be honest, I don’t know if it will benefit your application at all, but I’m sure it won’t hurt. I’m also applying ED this year and I know Columbia will accept both the October and November test dates for ED apps. Just make sure that they offer the Subject Tests you want to take on your desired date because they don’t offer all of them in all test dates.

It won’t make a big difference. If you do get in, language SAT IIs can be helpful for placement. If you’ve taken AP’s/done well in classes like Chem/US/Bio/World/Spanish, don’t bother with the SAT IIs. They’re kinda a waste of time (I took three in one go so I wouldn’t have to study and got between 730 and 800 on all of them, but they just validated my AP/class scores).
