Actually I was going to take the SAT Subject Tests in October and apply ED. I requested the registration booklet months (!) ago. Still haven't got it. Explanation from Collegeboard: Registration booklets are mailed the last week of August. Please allow the normal postal delivery time for parcels from the United States to Europe . That would be 2-4 weeks. Once I get them I have to fill them out and send them back. So how am I supposed to register before the September 12th deadline, if I haven't even received the registration stuff yet?!?
Also tried to register online, but don't have access to a credit card (really asked EVERYONE, relatives, friends, even my bank).
I'm really freaking out.
Does anyone have a suggestion how I might be able to take the test in October? Can you test as a standby outside of the US?

How were you going to pay for it originally if you didn't have a cc? Can you register over the phone and send in a postal order?

That's the other point...... Actually I wanted to wait for the registration stuff to see the payment options. Originally I thought maybe I could pay with traveller's checks valued at $60 (the fee is $52; that's also how I paid for the ACT), but today at the bank they told me that there's been some change just recently and that now no $20 traveller's checks are given out anymore; the lowest denomination now is $50 which is completely useless to me.
So now I will probably have to use a money order.... But you have to register by mail in order to use a money order.........................................
I don't think that you can register over the phone. On the internet it just says that the registration is only valid if they receive payment at the same time. Further information included in... - THE REGISTRATION BOOKLET...............
Why is that damn Collegeboard unable to plan ahead??
Can someone tell me that this is just a nightmare, please, and that I will wake up every second and everything will be fine?

go to an american school near you and get it from there

I mean is there absolutely no way you can get someone's cc and give them cash? Your parents? Anyone? That is really the easiest option. But I would call collegeboard and talk to them. the american school is a good suggestion

The nightmare's over.... :)
The daughter of one of my father's collegues has got a credit card.
Usually we simply don't need credit cards over here (because of an "automatic debit transfer system"; we give people our checking account number instead of a credit card number)

what country are u from, without CC really is quite unusual, i suppose your country is more aware of the economic bubble!! hence the lack of promoting use of CC, try it in some comercial base country, everyday some telemarketer will call and ask u to sign up for CC... anyway good luck in tests

Germany.
My parents have requested a credit card three weeks ago, but we still haven't got it (it is said to take about 4-6 weeks). Fortunately it doesn't matter anymore for right now.

Freaking out again.
I was assigned to a test center where I am NOT ALLOWED to take the test because I would need a military ID to access the building. GREAT!!!!
I found that out on Thursday (when I called there because my admission ticket tells me to call there) and I wrote an e-mail to the staff at Collegeboard. They promise to respond to every inquiry within two business days.... well now 3 business days have passed and nothing happened. But today is the registration deadline so I would have to call. But I don't want to call because my spoken English is so sucking bad. I even doubt that I will be able to tell them why I'm calling.
And right now I don't even have access to a credit card anymore because the girl that I got it from is on vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I can't even pay the test center change fee.
By the way, do you think that I should be allowed to change the test center for free? I mean, I was assigned a test center where I am simply not allowed to take the test, and that's not my fault but their's. Of course, I picked that test center as my first choice but I could not know that I cannot access that stupid building without a military ID and it didn't tell me anywhere in the registration process.
So what do you think?!?
I guess I'll wait a few more hours and then call but I'm so afraid...........

That makes no sense. Why would they offer a test at a place that is not accesible unless with military id? Why not type or write out what you want to say and have that at hand and just suck it up and call them. Even if it you are worried about your english - i am sure it is fine.

Well, I'm just afraid that even if I could tell them what I want, they would say "sorry, but you need to pay that $20.50 now or we cannot make that change". And right now I simply do not have access to that stupid credit card.
I guess they offer it so that the American kids here who do have a military ID are able to register online easily.

And freaking out again..................
OK, so now I have called there, requested the test center change and gave them my credit card information. Well, I just checked my e-mail account and I received a "SAT Personal Information Update Confirmation" saying that they updated my address?!? Then I checked my online admission ticket and saw that the test center was still the same but my street address is a complete mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on, my English cannot be THAT bad. GREAT, now I can call there again (not to mention the fees for an international phone call).
At least now I know why high school students feel so nervous about the SATs.......

And it doesn't get any better....
So now I've tried to call there again for over an hour, but the line is always busy. I'm still wondering how it can always be busy considering that there's just a computer voice answering anyways................
Does anyone happen to know if it is possible to change the test center after the official registration deadline?

hmmm well all I can suggest is to just try and stay calm and sort through it all logically. It will get sorted out and fixed. I'm sure if the test centre was there mistake then it can be sorted.

Hey with some schools, you can take tests on the november test date and still apply ED/ea. Check with the school's website, or email the school and ask.

I'm from Germany too and I had absolutely no problems with either registering or taking the SAT's. Was all done within a few minutes. Apparently you're just doing something wrong ;)

Can't you just cancel your registration and register again online? That'd be the easiest way. And I'd really suggest that you get yourself a credit card, I couldn't live without mine (yes, I'm living in Germany ;)). That's a matter of 2 weeks and you won't have those problems again.

i'm planning to take my sat 2 in november but still not sure about the subjects. so, do i need to mention the subjects when i register or can i do it afterwards after i register or can i change the subject?

As far as i know it doesn't matter which subjects you chose when you register. You can change the subjects at the test center before you take the test.

However, as far as i remember are language tests with listening sections more expensive then others. So maybe you can't change them so easily.

EDIT: From collegeboard.com:

You can change your mind on test day about which Subject Test you want to take. You may substitute a Subject Test (other than a listening test), or add Subject Tests (other than a listening test) on test day.
