I'm currently a junior in hs and I'm thinking about applying to umich next fall. I was wondering if and how many SAT IIs umich requires.

They don't require SATs II's at all. However, most of kids who apply there are top of their class and end up taking SAT II's to satisfy requirements for other colleges anyway.

Thanks for the quick answer. Your answer leads me to another question. If the all of the schools that I am looking to apply to don't require any SAT II, should I even bother taking them? Will it help any at all?

If they don't require it, you don't have to take them. However, if they recommend it, the extra effort on your part may be a good idea. If the scores are good enough, they may be able to sway your admission decision if you're borderline.

I think you should take it. If its not required, I think it can only enhance your chances of admission.

Take the highest math test you can take, and take another subject test in whatever is related to your major (if you're going into engineering take a science test like physics, if you're going into history, take US history, etc).

Based on the replies I have gotten, I'm leaning towrads taking a couple of SAT IIs next fall (don't want to pay late fee for May and am taking SAT I in June). I'm confident I can do well in Math 2 without much/any studying. The problem is I'm not confident in any of the other subjects. Would it be "better" to take just one or should I bust arse over the summer and relearn Chem/Bio (I haven't taken either in over a year).

Take at least one other subject test, whatever you're strongest in. It can't hurt, might as well study - I'm sure you have nothing better to do over summer since there's no school. haha jp.

It will definitely help you, maybe not that much with UMich (it can only enhance your admissions i think), but for other colleges that require SAT2s. Not taking the test would be limiting your options.
