SAT II Requirements

Subject tests concern me too, having 2 tests- World Hist 730, Math II 780. Taking the third subject test would obviously just be for Georgetown, but I feel like I would bomb the third test since I’m not very good at any of the other subjects. How much does not having three subject tests hurt for RD?

is it required to send every subject test i have ever taken? the college board website let me avoid sending all of them but i don’t know whether that is legal or not

Georgetown requires you to send in all standardized testing. They don’t accept Score Choice. Btw, I also live where you live (I applied early action, though). Seahawk: There’s no way to ascertain how much it will affect you. All we know is that they recommend that applicants submit three. If you are going to bomb a third, don’t bother.

you do have to select a tentative major but it doesn’t lock you into anything (besides the school) so you don’t even have to worry about changing it. at least that’s the case in sfs- i put down regional studies on the application but with my acceptance letter they called me an undeclared major.

thanks! i thought that was the case but just wanted to doubly check before i sent a crappy one. and you’re from columbus? i wish i had applied early action so much, 3 kids already got in from my school (though 1 is a lacrosse player) so i hope that doesn’t mess me up even though i have far better stats than they do.

Yes. Where do you go to school?

I decided to register for another SAT Subject test since I only have 2 (taking US History but already took World, is that fine?). How do I let them know so that if they review my application with just 2 scores, that I took a third?

@seahawks- write it in the sat section of the gtown app! i am also taking a subject test in january -_- haha seniorrrzzz

haha yeah i decided to add georgetown senior year and didn’t have time to take another subject test, and thought if i was really serious about coming here i ought to take a 3rd test. does anyone know if taking us history and world history is alright? i saw some people get in with those 2 but wonder if i’d be at a disadvantage.

Ok I’m in a big dilemma. I really like Georgetown and I really want to apply. I got a 33 on my ACT, but my top 3 SAT2 scores are 680 in Math 1, 640 in US. History, and 630 in Spanish. I know these aren’t Georgetown standard, but my ACT is above their middle 50 percentile. Should I send the 3 SAT2’s?

Send them. If you don’t send any, expect a rejection. They also require you to send all standardized testing, so you don’t have a choice. If they were to find out that someone didn’t abide by their rules, they technically could rescind an admissions offer.

so i’m planning to take another subject test in January for Georgetown. :stuck_out_tongue:
I indicated on my application that I will be taking that test.
If i decide not to take it, will they penalize me?
ALSO, What if i do take this subject test and do poorly on it…do I still have to send the score to Georgetown?

and happy new year everyone!

polarbears123, Georgetown requires all scores to be sent.

To people freaking out about not having perfect SAT scores, or 3 of them: I had a 710 in USH and a 600 in Latin. I got in as an intended language major to the College. If the rest of your application is strong, the scores really aren’t that big of a deal.

Serenen: What hooked them?

My essays and recommendations, I believe. I conveyed my passions and that made up for poor test scores and average GPA.

My daughter never took any subject tests and was accepted early action. It is hard to know what precisely Admissions is looking for. Don’t make yourself nuts trying to fit a profile.

I agree with pickyconsumer. I submitted only 2 of my 3 subject tests and was accepted early action.

Just remember that suggested does NOT mean required!

I took three SAT II tests because they were recommended, and although my scores were not great, during my interview with a local alum, she said it was good I took three as they were a way to weed out applicants.
