<p>Would I need to retake to get a 800 or are my present scores okay?</p>
<p>Considering 10% of the people that take both of those get 800s, yes you do. Their OK, however statistically their not.</p>
<p>Considering everybody on these boards are academic nutjobs who freak out at anything less that perfect, no you do not. A 780 on a subject test is like a 780 on a section of the regular SAT: very good. They’re scaled, and this 10% nonsense just needs to be ignored. Save yourself time and money. An 800 will not do you much better than a 780.</p>

<p>Ah, only on CC will you find people who say that 780 is not OK. But for the OP, if you are planning on majoring in something math/science related, you may want to retake Math II, but only if you have nothing better to do on your saturday. Your physics score is great, don’t even bother retaking it.</p>
<p>The Math is pretty bad but the Physics is good.
I’d say, probably don’t retake Math; retaking doesn’t look that good unless you go from like a 570 to 800. 780 to 800 is not a huge improvement so there’s no point. You could if you want but I think that’s a lot to pay for a little thing.</p>

<p>I disagree. A 780 on Math II is a good score, even if you take the curve of the test into consideration, and it would be pointless to retake it. I’d say don’t retake either. Good job :)</p>

<p>For MIT… you might want an 800 just in case. You don’t want to give them any excuse to not accept you.
The other schools might not care as much.</p>

<p>Don’t do it. They’ve said there’s no difference between a 750 and an 800. Seriously, just go outside and have a picnic that day instead of staying in a room taking tests for 2 hours. Or sleep and then a picnic.</p>
