SAT II Subject Test

Has anyone ever gotten into JHU without the subject tests? Or is it required for admissions?

bump!

Here’s what the JHU Admissions site has to say about SAT IIs: Freshman applicants are strongly encouraged to submit two SAT subject tests. Applicants interested in an engineering major are strongly encouraged to submit scores from the Mathematics Level 2 SAT subject test and at least one science SAT subject test.

I think that engineering students are encouraged to submit these specific SAT IIs than non-engineering students so that they can confirm that you have the math and science skills necessary to pursue engineering. However, assuming you’re not engineering, it is not required. Admissions encourages submitting SAT IIs so that you can show off your abilities in areas that the SAT I does not cover. If you’re amazing at Spanish, submit the Spanish! If you’re amazing at Literature, submit the Literature! However, if you feel that your scores are detrimental to your application and don’t speak accurately about your abilities, then you don’t need to submit them; that’s why they’re not required. The encouragement of SAT IIs is really just encouraging you to show off your abilities in other areas.
