SAT II subject tests

Is it true that in order to apply to Carnegie Mellon (for science, at least) you HAVE to take 2 subject tests (math + a science) in order to apply, EVEN if you took the ACT?!
this is the only thing that is stopping me from applying to CMU.. it is my dream school but I don't want to take subject tests

Man up and take them. CMU has a huge tech/engineering arm so it’s almost a no brainer to see them ask for math and sci tests.

what if i do bad on them? i just don’t have time to study for them…since i’m working so hard to get up my Grades (which are more important…right?)

i took a practice SAT II Math I test cant i got like less than 600 lol

Let’s take a look at your options:

If you take the subject tests and try to do your best without studying before, you will at least have a score and will be able to apply to your dream school.

If you don’t take the subject tests you won’t be able to apply your dream school.

I think the first one makes much more sense. Even if you get a low score, you will be able to try your chances with CMU.

When applying to other colleges, do I HAVE to send my subject test scores? Can I choose to keep quiet about my subject scores if I dont want to let them see them?

Take the tests like OMGMIT said, get the chance for your dream school. And, you are not only apply one school CMU, there are plenty of schools do not require subject test. Use score choice if you don’t want them to see it.

Carnegie requires all scores be sent-- it’s in the application instructions.

The College Board will note if scores were omitted-- so you cannot ignore sending them since CMU requests to see them all and they would not be pleased to receive a report that indicated scores were hidden.

^ what about for other schools?

???
Other schools than cmu??

You have to check their application instructions.
All Ivies and most of the CMU competitors required applicants to send all scores.
When you send an incomplete report— it shows as such on the report.

Also, many high schools show all of them on your transcript anyways.

And-- the common ap has a spot to report all scores.
