SAT II: Two 800s, One <600: Cancel?

Ok, so I took my SAT II's today, and I'm fairly cetain that I got 800's on two of them, but was completeley overmatched on my last one, and i'm projecting a score of less than 600. The school I'm applying to only needs two sat II's. Do the admissions commitee see my bad score? Should I cancel this sitting even though my 2 800's will also be canceled and try again in Nov?

Dont cancel, just ratake the test in Nov

Do not cancel

Definetely don't cancel. A majority of your tests are 800s. Retake that one test after studying a bit more.

Thanks, I'm just worried that the admissions committe will see that third score even though they only require two. Any insight into this?

I dont understand why people on CC ask such ridiculous questions. Cancel for God's Sake! Cmon!

Don't listen to DiamondT. Don't cancel, but retake in november since the college will see all of your SAT II scores.

BTW, is the one you're worried about Chemistry?

Yeah, it was the chem. I totally underestimated how hard it was, and i dont think I can raise my score a whole lot higher by Nov.

I think Diamond was being sarcastic. Seriously, don't cancel.

If you cancel the test, you'll cancel the two (near)sure 800's. Don't do that. Most admissions officers look at the higher scores or the Subject II that's relevant to the courses you might be majoring in (I think??).

I took Chem last year. It IS hard and I don't really understand how they score, especially those CI, CE or whatever questions. No worries. The curve for Chem is pretty forgiving.

What other two did you take?

But the thing is, if I cancel, i can easily repeat my two 800's in Novmeber, and not have the chem blemish on my application. The other two i took were math 2 and physics, which seemed totally juvenile compared to chem. Bah, what do to...

Okay, maybe you should get 800's again in November, but think about it financially, too, and time-wise. $45+ to reregister. And if you're applying to more than 4 universities that require SAT II, that's additional money, too. And 3 hours or so on a Saturday (I hate having those instructions read and people asking questions about how to bubble!), you could use that in November to finish/start/something applications.

If you're going to physics/engineering major in uni, chem shouldn't be looked at too much.

And...:) we don't have to be perfect.

Don't cancel good scores. If you retake in November, you only have to take one test - and you can concentrate on it better. Remember, the weather can be bad, people get ill, the car won't start - all sorts of things happen. You don't want to through away two good scores.

i have the same dilemma as u (on chem), and im not cancelling...im hoping the other tests will somewhat rectify it...

Ok, I decided to just study extra hard and retake the chem in Nov. I was just freakin out a bit because I wasn't used to skipping and guessing as many questions as I did on the chem. Thanks for the help guys.

Welcome and g'luck with your Chem SAT II in Nov. :)

I think the option to cancel is just another measure put in place by CollegeBoard to make more money off students. If a student cancels, they will definitely be registering again for another $40 test. But if they don't cancel, they might find out that they did okay and don't need to retake.

There are only a few extreme cases where I think somebody should cancel their scores. If somebody "does bad" and wants to cancel they probably won't do much better on a second testing without intensive prep (which should have taken place before the first testing so they aren't very motivated in that regard anyway.) Unless you skipped number one and misgrided all of your answers, your calculator explodes or you later find out later that it was displaying everything in binary, you came down with mono two days before the test, etc you shouldn't cancel. You might have done better than you thought.
