Hello to all those who took the SAT II U.S. History test,

It sounds like everyone's stressing about the test they took. I will be taking the test next month and I'm going to just briefly review some historical facts. What was there a lot of? Social trends or hardcore historical facts? Is using a prep book enough? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

this past test seemed more difficult than usual, although i don't know what the usual is. it was very detailed, had some questions based on straight up memorization of facts, and didn't focus too much on WWII and the cold war. however, i'm sure the tests vary so this information won't be too useful. a prep book is definitely enough. i suggest kaplan for a more detailed review of everything and sparknotes for a bit more generalized review. make sure you take practice tests. the ones from kaplan are harder those from sparknotes.

Man, this past test is easy to the core. I finished the test 15 minutes before time. What I did was looked over the Princenton AP US Hisotry book that I used for AP last year. Of course, I had to guess on some specific ones. If any student had 2 days to review before the test, he/she would probably get close to 800.

yo natural, shut up with that man. It was freakin hard, and I dont know why do u think its so easy. If you do, just dont talk. Stop with that 2 days thing, we aint genius like you

dude, i read what i posted, and i totally sounded like an a**. Really didn't mean it like that. Hey I guess I was lucky that I had an awesome history teacher whose lecture stuck in my head.
But i'm totally positive that i bombed the maths and physics. Considering i'm quicker at mathy and sciency stuff, how sad is that..

i say that sparknotes is the best one, as its History section covers a lot and goes into specific details. I find the tests much harder than those in kaplan and easier than the ones in Barron( which was out of this world)

Wow... two days ago, I posted this and no one answered, but now I got lots of good responses! Thanks a lot guys, I do need some help as I took U.S. History during my Sophomore year (2 years ago).

i got a 780 last june and i can confirm that sparknotes helped a lot.....they also offer a book of just like 5 extra practice tests that help..i looked at some of my friends books which were barrons and PR and after taking the test i can honestly say that sparknotes had the most accurate questions but their practice tests seemed only a tad harder as i was consistantly getting in the 720-750 range.

Perhaps I was a tad bit insecure about all the "specific" questions that everyone was talking about (e.g. specific laws, trials, and "trivial" events that are not heard of often). I guess practice tests are the most helpful tools.

Hey i don't know if this helps but I used the AP Princeton Review book and got an 800. When I took it last May 7th it seemed pretty straightforward. The best thing to do is take a ton of old AP multiple choice tests and old SAT history tests starting a week or so before the exam. You will find that collegeboard consistently puts several of the same qestions on every test. As an example I took the AP Exam the SAT II and about 12 practice tests and every single one had a question on Brown vs. Board of Education. You will also notice such similiar things turning up as Reagaenomics (sorry about the spelling) and things on the 1st and 2nd Great Awakenings. Good luck.

I basically just used AP practice tests, and looked over my notes for the year. I got an 800 and my memory's not that great, so I must have had a good teacher or something. Course, I took in it June, after studying for the AP test in May.
