SAT II U.S. History

i'm signed up for the June 3rd SAT II U.S. History test, and I've been studying and practice for hte past two weeks.

strangely, out of 4 practice tests I've been getting exactly 730, which i guess is comforting.

so my question is: is a 730 in U.S. history considered good? or is it like Math IIc where plenty of people get full scores.

Which book have you been using? The SAT II USH tends to have a generous curve, where you can get 7-8 wrong and still get 800.

The best book you could use is the Ap book from REA. I just got my score (740) and was getting 690's on practice tests from Princeton Review. I am hearing what I got, and what you have been getting on practice tests is quite good. My school's Valedectorian got a 750 and a 5 on the AP, ans so did another kid I know. That is the highest score of anyone I know. One is going to Cal the other to Stanford. Im guessing 730 is actually pretty awesome!

GOOD LUCK!

You'll get higher on the real thing most likely.

woot i got an 800! whatever you do, DONT go on college confidential right after the test and listen to all those people who are rehashing every question. i was sure from that forum that i missed like 3954878 questions, but it turned out ok.

When's the latest to sign up for this test? I've been tryign to figure out. Thanks.

um considering its already may 31, its definitely too late to sign up for this test.

I got a 690, and considering I was 40% through my Barron's SAT II prep book, and I am 80% through my AP USH class, I can easily push for 700+ with tiny more effort.

Oh, are there standby's for these tests?

yes there are standby's...
but why bother? just wait till the october test date and have the scores sent to colleges then (it's not too late at all, assuming you'll be a senior then). unless you think you'll forget all the material.

I just dont think I will remember most of the materials by October. I'm already forgetting as I type lol.

I wanted to sign up for SAT II USH for June 3rd test date, but I realized it was too late.

US history is a tough curve. 730 isn't bad at all.

And don't doubt yourself; practice tests are almost always much harder than the real thing. (I just got an 800 without any specific studying at all; I simply took AP USH and studied for the AP test).

Is 740 OK? I'm not particularly thrilled with it, seeing as I thought it was probably going to be my highest out of the three I'm going to take. (Lit. & Math IIC being the others)

I signed up only for Lit. on Saturday, but I'm wondering if I should take history over. Is it worth it to take it over?

Hey, jimbob, I was one of those ppl who went over every Q possible right after the test. ;p But I agree that it can be unhealthy at times. Even so, it also makes for a great stress-reliever.

alright, i guess a 730 is good then.
btw i was using the SAT II US History for Dummies book, if that helps.

i dont have a problem with worrying about after the test, im good with putting it behind me cuz the score can't be changed after the fact.

Does anyone know the percentage breakdown? Like, if you scored X then you were in the top ___%.

Dang, I would give just about anything for an 800. Too bad my score blows.

I notice that a lot of kids there achieved a fabulous score (anything ranges from 700-800) :)
So ,I have a small question. I intend to take US His but I still have no clue how to learn it effectively ( cuz I'm an inter student-> no chance to study AP. I just fortunately possess several materials). Can you guys share with me some of your tips/effective methods, and thus I will know how to prepare for it.
Much appreciation :)

Do they SAT subject tests work like the SATS? Is it better to answer all questions or not to answer if you dont know?

you still miss 1/4 of a point, i think using the same strategies that you did on the SAT I would be good.
