SAT II: US History - BARRONS

I just took a practice test out of the Barron's SAT II for US History and literally flunked the test, scoring 45/98. Does anyone know if Barron's is this challenging? What type of score can I expect if I'm getting 45/98? (Barron's didn't include a scoring guide)

If anyone has any input or knows the scoring rubric (for Barron's), feel free to post. Thanks.

I wish I had more specifics for you, but I can tell you that I was in a similar spot earlier this week when I took some Barrons' practice tests and bombed them. I got fewer than 60 of the 90 right twice in a row and got pretty worried. I was doing very well on the REA AP practice tests (as well as 71/80 last night) and I do well in class and everything so I was kind of shocked. From reading around on this board, people seem to agree that Barrons' is generally far more difficult than the real thing. For more accurate tests, check out sparknotes.com's tests. If you sign up for a new account, you can take one full practice test. I'd recommend it.

Good luck tomorrow.

Thanks, I'll take a look at sparknotes tests then.

Barron's is always really hard. I wouldn't worry about it, you should do fine.

ask ur teacher for a real test

I took another test from a different study guide and scored about 70/90, which is more reasonable. Thanks for the input guys.

thers 90 questions on the test so 70/90 with the curve would be about 760

Barron's US History is ridiculously hard. I got in the mid-600s on Barrons, and in the Real SAT IIs by College Board I got a 770.

Don't use that book--its 100% freshly squeezed crap

Read its one star reviews on Amazon

Where do you find a scoring rubric for the barron's US History test? There wasn't one in my book

Like Agrophobic said, DO NOT USE BARRON'S SAT II USH. Like seriously. The format of the Qs and the Qs themselves are NOTHING like the real ones. I took both AP USH and SAT II USH, and the Qs are MUCH simpler and easier than the ones in Barron's.
