SAT II US History

I'm taking the US History subject test in June. I am currently using the Kaplan book to prepare. Is this a good book to use in preparation for the test?

AMSCO is the way to go!

^^^amsco is gold.

You mean the AMSCO APUSH book? That book is definitely golden.

I dont get the deal with amsco. The book is so thick its pointless as review unless you’re targeting specific areas and the mc don’t even have answers… I am relying on the APUSH kaplan quick review book for outlines of the history and for practice I am taking the 100 mc offered by direct hits for free, day by day. I’m also staying after every chance possible with my teacher to review key terms and their place in FRQ’s

Direct Hits

I think AMSCO is a great book. If you want to get through everything, you are probably going to need at least a month to review it… If you only need to review certain sections, then it is still great! It may look really thick, but if you are only studying it for the SAT and not AP, then you can skip through the DBQs which makes it a lot easier! Also Barron’s is a good book, and try sparknotes online too. If you sign up for sparknotes (which is free) they have 10 practice tests, and help you target areas you need to brush up on.

I used Kaplan, got around 760-780 on all the practice tests after reading the chapters (ish) and got an 800…

@Interficio Yes, AMSCO is thick, but everything is solved just by reading it. Out of all the practice books I’ve read, it most closely matches actual AP/SAT II material.
