SAT II US History

How hard is it? I've taken US History and am taking APUSH currently...I'm planning to take it in January as I feel I'm ready, but I still want to prepare a little. Which book should I use, and whats the max amount of questions you can miss and still get an 800?

Use Barron's. It will first make you cry and then make you smarter. I used Barron's and got an 800.

Not very hard at all. If you're taking APUS and are doing relatively well in it, it should be a cakewalk.

How different is the APUS test in contrast with SAT II USH?

major differences= scoring, format
SATII is only 100 multiple choice; AP is multiple choice, essay, DBQ, but you can get more questions wrong on the AP test than the SATII and still get a high score.

If you prepare for the AP test, you should be fine. I took the SATII about a week after my AP test with no extra studying. I noticed that a lot of the people/places on the SATII were on the AP, although the SATII is more facts, while the AP test will test broader concepts that require some sort of synthesis or analysis. I remember not recognizing one or two names on the SATII, but obviously the SAT doesn't follow as much of a standardized curriculum as the AP program. Generally, I would say take the SATII right after the AP test (not the one right before- that was my friend's mistake) and just pay attention in your class and study for the AP and you should be fine. I recommend 5 Steps to a 5. It's the most concise, but also comprehensive review book, so I didn't feel like I was re-reading my entire textbook.

^^^i agree... you could also look at Barron's APUSH flash cards- they're quick to read through and are very informative.

no essays thank god

cj_svu6: why exactly do u recommend taking the ap test before the subject test?

i actually think may is preferable for subject tests. yea, study the barrons for ush. i got an 800 ... and a 780 on physics on the same sitting >.< annoyed because i was hoping for 2 800s

how many can you get wrong to get at least a 750? basically im asking for the wrong answer to score ratio...
