SAT II vs AP Spanish

I was wondering since almost everyone I've talked to performs horribly on AP Spanish test IE: 1-2 occasionally a 3, is the SATII Spanish easy enough to self study from 2 years of spanish and manage a 700+? Is it easier then self studying an AP history for example? Also if anyone has any recomendations for prep that would be much appreciated ;-)

i studied the wrong book the night before the test and still got a 3 and im not spanish at all with 4 years of spanish....takin sat 2 in dec. hopefully get a 650

well, i'm actually attempting the same thing you are. 2 years of spanish, and i'm prepping for january sat, mostly for placement, somewhat for admissions. From what I hear, Barron's is the best book (the latest edition is 2001). it has 7 spanish tests without listening and 3 w/listening, and an extensive, in-depth grammar review of about 60 pages. I'm using barron's, and even though I can't really comment on its quality since I've barely started prepping, most people say (even the book itself says) that the practice tests are harder than the actual, so it will prepare you well. That is my 2 cents.

I thought 5 years of Spanish class would be enough prep. I looked through a practice test and thought most of it was easy... then I took the actual test, and did absolutely terrible. Mostly just small and specific vocab that got me, even when I got the gist of a paragraph. So make sure you do some prepping with what people have recommended.

i love practice tests...i would get 540s for the chem...but got a 760 on the real thing

For spanish I'm probably not taking the ap test (this is my fifth year of spanish). At my school, you cuould probably count the number of people who got a 4 or 5 on both hands. Last year not a single person scored above a 2. Since I'm basically only interested in placement, not to show to colleges, the SAT2 is easier for me to place into the highest level than the AP test.

I got a 4 in AP Spanish, but only a 620 on the SAT II this October. I did not study, nor I am I taking Spanish this year.
