SAT II World History - June 4th

swebber I put politics

What did you guys say for the society that prepared themselves for disasters and droughts?

Did anyone remember the one that was like the spanish colonies on the map, what was the thing traded and what was it used for. I put silver and to buy stuff from china
Also there was a question about the africans put into slavery, I put slave ship cargo? is that right?

spnlove I put silver/China as well.

About the Africans put into slavery, the answer was that most of them were used to work in the sugar plantations.

The actual answer was something with religious and nationalistic ties, I explained why in post 94. The society with the most prep for droughts was Aztec, but idk for sure.

Yeah I said slave ship cargo also because not all slaves went into plantations, which was my second choice. Also, not all slaves made it through the middle passage.

almostsk8er, i left that blank

spnlove, I put plantation records

almostsk8tr:
Yeah that’s why I put the ship cargo record.

I wish I skipped more because I just skipped 3, and I guessed on way too many. toward the end I was running out of time and messed up the developing nations stuff. For the last couples Qs, one I put the population increases because people lived in urban center? and the second or the last one I put for the environmental damage, it was because of population but I’m pretty sure I got it wrong.

Developing countries didn’t want to pass environmental things (something along the lines of that) because it would hinder their economic growth.

I think the one with growth in the second half of the twentieth century in developing countries is shanty towns, i got it wrong though.

Best of luck guys, just wanted to comment on this thread because I took the test last year. Definitely not an easy test, I ended up with a 730 :S

Really? I put the shanty town one and I got the environmental one wrong for sure.

Can anyone clarify the problem bout the influence in central america and Caribbean being US or France, because I was really torn between these 2.

Do you remember what you said for Sumerian gods? Were they not human like? I’m pretty sure they had a mother goddess though. I don’t remember the other choices.

I’m pretty sure it was the US in the Caribbean. You know, with the Monroe Doctrine and all. Plus, they were in Puerto Rico and all that stuff. At least I think so.

I picked growing middle class.
As a student of current events and president of my schools extemporaneous speaking team, I do a lot of reading. I was surprised at this question because it really does vary. However, quality of life is generally increasing and widespread education at lower prices lead me to chose the middle class one. Minority students and women around the world are, for the very first time, earning secondary education decrees and really advancing in life.

I put US in the Caribbean as well.

Politics. It inspired the Latin America Revolutions (New Spain)

For the sumerian god I put that all were true except they were childish and quarrelsome. I’m not sure though, it could be the human thing cuz I remember the greeks had that. But mainly I put the childish thing cuz it didn’t make sense that gods would be childish? so yeah.

DANG = = I put US then changed it to France, because part of the question said something about first half of 20th century? or maybe I read it wrong

Also another thing…for the third column of answer sheets, were they mostly A and B, because I got like 4/5 A’s in a row :(

Third column I got a crap load of B’s.
