SAT II World History or SAT II US History?

My senior year, I’m planning on taking AP US History (if everything works out), but apart from that, I take a regular honors-type history class at school (it’s OIB History, which stands for Option International Baccalaureate, so it’s like an IB level course, if any of you haven’t heard of it.) Thus, which history SAT subject test do you guys think I should take? Is there one that is looked more highly upon by colleges? I don’t want to do things just so they will look “good” on my college application, but seeing as how I don’t have any preference for one over the other, do you have any recommendations? Is there one that’s easier to study for? Thanks in advance!

I studied my ass off for the World History SAT II, but only got a 740. Totally winged the US History SAT II and got an 800. I thought US History was way easier than World.

@emilyskates Thanks for answering! If you don’t mind, could you share how you studied for each test? Which test prep books did you use? And also, had you taken the corresponding AP test beforehand (either AP World History or AP US History)? Sorry for all these questions!

@EkaterinaHN I used Barron’s and Kaplan for World. PR for World is crap. Don’t buy it. I bought Barron’s for US but never actually used the book. I took the subject test right before the AP, so I read the APUSH PR book a few weeks before to prepare for the AP and I guess that helped? I took Honors World History not AP, which may have been part of the reason I struggled. I took APUSH though, 5 on the AP. I found World harder because it covers more time and more civilizations. Also there were some weird art questions that I didn’t like and there were a lot of questions I found obscure.

@emilyskates Thanks for all your help! And do you think Barron’s and Kaplan prepared you well for World History (the subject test)? I mean, 740 is a great score! :slight_smile:

@EkaterinaHN I’m pretty sure the Barron’s book covered virtually all of the material on the test, but the practice tests in that book didn’t reflect the real thing at all.

@emilyskates Ok, thanks!!
