Hey Guys. Since the World History SAT is closing fast i thought about opening this thread to give people a chance to ask questions and get answers. So, let's get it started. :)
BTW, does anyone have the curve for the World History SAT? I would really appreciate it.

I hear that it’s very similar to the US history one, which can be found here:
[SparkNotes: SAT Subject Test: U.S. History: Scoring and the SAT II U.S. History](<a href=“SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides”>SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides)

I’m not too concerned about the SATII because I studied a lot for the AP, but if you need a quick review I would recommend that you watch this video:
[Global History and AP World Review in 12 Minutes - YouTube](<a href=“Global History and AP World Review in 12 Minutes - YouTube”>Global History and AP World Review in 12 Minutes - YouTube)

I would also recommend that you check out this website, it’s pretty helpful:

Thanks a lot. I’ve read though that the curve for the WH SAT is extremely generous. Something like you can miss 20 questions and still get an 800.

Hey everyone!
I just had a question. I recently took the AP World History exam, and I’m planning on taking the SAT Subject Test II for World History.
What’s the difference between the two? (Other than the fact that one is AP, and other is SAT II, and that one has an essay and the other doesn’t…). Such as format, etc.
Which one is harder?
I bought the Kaplan AP World History book 2013-2014 version; should I purchase another book that is tailored towards SAT WH?

Best wishes!

And by the way, what book is the best to study from?

I personally like Barron’s the best. I wouldn’t be too worried though, the curve is extremely generous. I’m a huge history guy, but I’ve barely studied and I’m feeling very confident and getting near perfects (91-95/95) on practice exams.

the satII is more fact-based recall, more detail-oriented & goes more in-depth (especially for euro), and the curve is ~15 omit = 800. the ap has a lot more analysis of passages.

I am getting really nervous!

Here’s a test I’ve been using to prep.

http://papers.xtremepapers.com/SAT/SAT%20II%20History.pdf

I don’t know if its really hard or its just me, so maybe you guys could take it and see how you well you do?

Is omitting a good idea?

Good luck everyone.

@Runner

I think omitting is a good idea if you don’t have any idea what the question is.

I’m pretty nervous, this will be my first SAT II. Hopefully the studying I’ve done will be enough.

My WHAP teacher said that you shouldn’t worry about the test too much if you studied for the AP. The curve is relatively generous and it’s best to guess if you are stuck between two answers (always go with your gut.)

Remember it’s 45 seconds a question, so you have to be quick.

WHAP v SATII World History

WHAP focuses more on general trends. You’re also expected to get a 50-70% on the multiple choice.

SATII is more specific regarding events and details. The penalty also influences how you take the test. To get a high score, you need a decent amount of correct answers.

Anyone that took the WHAP this year should note that the SATII will not have as much reading. This year was very different from the SATII because the multiple choice was pretty much reading comprehension.

Good luck everyone!

My teacher basically told us, SAT tests how much you can vomit onto your answer sheet in an hour and AP tests how well you can read.

I’m panicking. I didn’t focus as much on WH because I took APWH this year, and studied more for the chem SAT since I only took an honors.
And now while I’m fairly confident about chem, I realized how screwed I am for world…

I got an 800 on the official collegeboard practice test but a 690 on the Kaplan (it seemed impossibly hard).

Last minute cram tips, anyone?

I’m about ready to stop grading my practice test halfway through the answer key. Red ink all over my paper.

What did you guys think of the test today???
