SAT II's And Their Questions

I don't really understand what kind of questions are asked on the SAT II. Are the questions really specific and in detail or is it like if you have a basic grounding in the subject, you'll do above 700? I'm guessing that you must know specifics because people seem to do a lot of studying before hand for them (or maybe that is if you have no clue about the subject). It just wouldn't seem like a fair test if you pretty much had to prepare a lot for it even if you have taken that course before and feel like you know it well. I mean come on, a test about the whole history of the United States. It'd be insane if it was very specific. Or a test on Biology with specifics about Metaphase or something. That just seems unreasonable considering that you are supposed to know those specifics and tons more. After all, Metaphase is just one step in a process in a subject of the cell in...it just goes on and on. Are there History questions like who was the tenth President or when was the Declaration Of Independence signed and in what years were the Great Depression (exaggeration, but I hope you catch my drift that this is basic information), or is it like who was the queen of Hawaii when we annexed it during one of our most Imperialistic eras (also easy, but more in-depth than before)? Basically, is it in-depth or somewhat basic? And if it is in-depth, how in-depth?

Thanks In Advance,

IMO, the history test is the only one that is really THAT specific, (I'm a total history freak but only managed to get 670 whereas I got 700 in chemistry where I never really payed very much attention in class)
