is a score of 750 for math II good? or should I retake?

retake.

10char

what is a good score to aim for? or do you need to get an 800

You’re fine. I got in with a 630 Math I, 590 Physics no studying.

Thats not to say that you shouldn’t keep trying for higher if you know that you can do better though.

yeah…, why did reptil say to retake though

Dunno, but what reptil is wrong. No need to retake unless you absolutely feel inadequate (which you should definitely NOT)

He said to retake because 10% of people get an 800 on the Math II. So your score isn’t really an elite score.

a lot of mixed views on this topic…

does it look bad if you retook the test and only did, say, 20 points or so points better?

cutting it easy, about 8-10% get an 800 on math2. and 750 is therefore a “low” score. with cornell’s admission rate at 19% which will problably even drop next year (and its even lower for engineering) we could assume a 15% rate. so already here we see that a ~780 (15%) would be the equivalent if all students would apply, even those with scores of 400 etc. however, those who apply are already top students.

retake.

The above post isn’t true. Looking at the link below, you can see that the admit rate for cornell college of engineering last year was 29%.

However I would probably still retake the test.

it’s a good score, just back it up with good extracurriculars and stuff. my friend got into cornell engineering with a 760 math 2, no biggie

does it make a difference if you are applying as a bio/environmental engineering major through the College of agriculture and life sciences?

or is it just best to retake it regardless, since it is still an engineering major.

It won’t get you in, it won’t keep you out. Taking it a second time won’t help unless you’re positive you’re going to get an 800 and you just had a bad day. Focus more on writing your essays.

ok thanks for the advice.
