the admissions officers say SAT II's arent required, but if there's a certain subject you're really good at, then by all means take the SAT II for that subject. make your application as strong as possible since OOS competition is brutal. i dont know of anyone who got accepted from OOS who didnt take at least a couple SAT II's (unless they had a hook that got them in). if you score poorly on an SAT II test, dont worry i dont think it'll make a huge difference in UNC's decision. i scored very low on my biology and spanish SAT II's but still got in OOS.

and by the way, you arent accepted to any type of program (i.e. pre-med) for UNC. everyone is put in the general college their first two years, and you dont apply to a certain school until end of sophomore year.

yes, if you take the october SAT II's and put UNC down as one of the schools you'd like your scores to be sent to, then UNC will receive it in time for early action (remember, theres no early decision). the scores will be sent to unc sometime in november.

They ask for them but as we just found out didn't even look at them.
They want them for registration purposes because they said AP/IB tests are not scored yet. But, they didn't even look at them or advise my D at all on what to take. They advised the entire group together. I asked the advising office "so why did we have to take the satII if you never even looked at it or used it? my other d did not take it and just did not sign up for math first semester.

oh and by the way smooooot, math sat II is required for placement purposes, not the admissions process. so you only need to take it if you're accepted

My D also just finished CTOPS and she had not taken the math satII. They let her sign up for second level calc and chem based on what she thinks her ap calc will be. She did have the ap score for chem. I guess if her ap calc comes in low then she'll have to change everything. If you don't want the stress of placement issues i would take the satII but it worked out fine for my d not having them
