I'm stressing about these because I haven't taken any and I can't make the October test date. I get one shot in November and that's pretty much it.

I've got a few last minute, panicky questions:

Definitely taking:

Math I or II? What's the difference? I'm in AP Calc currently, would II be a stretch? What sort of material should I study for it, up to Calc or not? I've heard it's more in-depth than math section of SATs...how much more? For reference, got a 780 in math on SAT I.

Chemistry--I think it says on the website that you should take AP courses to prepare for SAT IIs but I couldn't fit in AP Chem. Do I still have a shot at this?

and one of the four below to round out the list:

French with Listening--I've heard that language SAT IIs are hard and have a lot of colloquial content. Got a 4 for AP French exam.

US History--already took APUSH, got a 5. Is it much harder or easier?

Biology--currently taking AP Bio...

Chinese with Listening--eh...only if there's nothing better to take.

Since I've already taken AP tests in French and History, would a high SAT II score for either be redundant? On the flip side, would a lower score conflict with the AP scores?

For reference, I'm looking for pretty high SAT II scores so I'd define a good score as 750+.

I can try to advise you on math and chem:

You should definitely take MathIIC. MathIC is more like SATI math, and thus, the curve is extremely harsh. The mathIIC lets you get about 5 wrong and still get an 800. However, the MathIIC basically goes up to trig. Take a few practice tests and see what you need to study up on, but definitely take the IIC.

For Chem, you don't need to take AP chem. My two friends took honors with me (we have no AP), they got 800 and I got 770 (damn lol). However, i'm sure its easier with AP chem under your belt. Once again, take some practice tests. Be warned however, that Barron's book for chem (as well as mathIIC actually) is WAY harder than the real test. The test is more like Princeton Review or Kaplan make it out to be. Really, its not that bad, even without chemAP.

Thank you for the super-detailed answer! It cleared up a lot, much more helpful than my math/science teachers have been, at least.

I'll be sure to check out your recs this weekend, definitely picking myself up a chem review book. But you've reassured me a little, I think.

Thank you very much!

(oh, and congrats on the Chem score! lol, 770 is nothing to complain about, I think. And the grading for Math II sounds very nice after losing 20 points for one wrong answer on SAT I.)

Np and good luck! Just remember, 10% of people get 800 on mathIIC so its important to do well (no pressure man!! lol). Also, the C part of IIC stands for calculator, which is very important for the test. Im sure youll do fine, just dont overstress (or come in overconfident, finish like 20 minutes early, and not check your anwsers leading you to make careless mistakes...like me haha). Don't worry, you will ace them!!!

I dunno about getting the 800. I think I'd be satisfied with 750+.

Overconfidence, ha, I learned my lesson with that the 3rd time through the SATs...
