Does having an SAT II score help at all when trying to gain admittance to a college that doesn't require them?

We're trying to decide if my son should take a couple of them. He did very well in math on the SATs (760) so it seems like he should at least take the math ones, but maybe it's not necessary.

Good SAT II scores can sometimes play into both admissions and financial aid decisions even at schools that don’t require SAT IIs. I know that my daughter was offered significant merit aid at a couple of colleges she was accepted at in part because her three SAT IIs were in the mid-700 range.

Most colleges that do not require them don’t use them for anything and taking and sending them is a useless activity. However, outside of the “required” colleges there are those who either recommend or will consider SAT IIs. Go here for a list of colleges that require, recommend or consider SAT IIs. If a college to which he intends to apply is on the list, then consider taking them: [Compass: Admissions Requirements](<a href=“SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations”>SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations) Also note that, though not yet updated on the list, Univ of Mich has gone to considering SAT IIs.
