SAT II's - senior year?

Are the SAT II's only offered May/June of Junior year? I'm not sure if this is correct, but I heard that people could also take them beginning of Senior year.

Is this true?

Yes in October, November, or December if you apply to colleges Regular Deadline

Oh. By the way, what is the difference between Early Action and Early Decision?

Generally, EA is non-binding, whereas ED is binding.

Non-binding/binding to what?

Also, because the New SAT contains the writing section, is it still preferable to take 3 SAT II's? (I'll only be taking 2 now.)

Binding = if you get in, you HAVE TO go there
Non-Binding = you can get in and still go somewhere else

bdreamm - to find answers to your questions:

Dates of SATIIs can be found on www.collegeboard.com

Early action/early decision definitions can be found many places, including this website. Go to the home page (just click on the College Confidential logo at the top of this page), click on "College Admissions", then click on "What about Early Decision or Early Action".

Check the websites of the colleges in which you are interested to find out their specific requirements regarding SATIIs. Some want none, some want 2, some want 3.

bump bump bump

Oh... and which SAT II's are preferable to take?

That's pretty much up to you. Whatever you think you'll do the best on. But also check the college websites to see if they specify. There are a few colleges that want to see SATIIs in different categories (i.e., not all science-related).

bdream:

also, engineering and top science schools want to see math 2

same problem for me bdreamm. i was going to take writing sat II... so now im doing sat II math and us history. POSSIBLY...latin

Ok, does it make sense to take the SAT II Math IC and IIC?

bump bump. . . .

i dont think you need to take 2 sat II math...i've viewed other forums, and everyone has said it was unnecessary

It makes sense (to take both math 1c and 2c) if you're not sure which one you'll score better in. My sister did that and she ended up with 710 in 2c and 730 in 1c. If you are in an advanced math class you will probably get a higher score in the 2c because of the better curve.
