I'm taking US History next year, and wondering if I should take the SAT II US History test. So far I've taken two SAT II's:
SAT Chem - 760
SAT Math II - 800
Next year I will probably take SAT Spanish and SAT Biology (because I am taking AP Spanish and AP Biology next year as classes)...
Let's say that I can get a 750 on SAT Spanish and SAT Biology. Is it worth it to take SAT US History? Would it look bad if I had 5 SAT II's with scores 800, 760, 750, 750, and 600...or would it be good to take an extra subject test, even if my score is only a 600? It may also be noted that it would be my only history/social science subject test.
Also, is it hard to self-study, though? With a regular US History class and some self-studying would I be capable of a 700+?

If you are a fan of history (which I would guess you would be to some degree, as you are choosing it as a subject test), I think you would be fine with a normal class+some self-studying. I am a fan of history, so perhaps my interest in my history class helped. While I took the AP class, it didn’t really go that far beyond what the standard class did. I did, however, read the REA AP US History to help on the AP test. Apparently this helped, as I got an 800 when I took its corresponding SAT II right after the course ended. I have also heard many people on these boards recommend AMSCO US History, although I don’t personally know how good it was. However, if you get a solid, conceptual grasp on the subject through class and some self-studying, you should do perfectly fine.

It’s definitely possible, but it’ll take a fair amount of work. It wouldn’t really matter if you had a 600, since you have several other high scores. If you think you can score well, take it. Otherwise, you have more than enough SAT IIs.

Well I took sat 2 us history got a 690 on it by reading the entire sparknotes the night before. Its just history, if you prep you will do well.

It’s one of the few subjects you can self-study, since US history is mainly information in the form of a story.

Thank you. I think I’m going to self-study it, but take it at a different time of the year than the Bio and Spanish, so I can focus on it, and not have to take 3 tests in one day.
