SAT II's VERSUS the AP TEST

there might have been a thread about this already
but which one is harder?
and do u think I can get a high score on the SAT II just by looking at a an ap book?

It depends on which test you're talking about.

In math, the SAT IIs and the AP tests cover completely different material. An AP book would be worthless to someone preparing for the SAT II Math I or Math II test.

On the other hand, in U.S. History, the SAT II is virtually identical to the multiple-choice portion of the AP test. An AP book would be an excellent study guide.

APs would most definitely be harder though... but like Marian said, self research as content varies from AP to SAT II

Like everyone said, it depends on what you're talking about. However, some SAT IIs are similar to their AP counterparts. I remember last year, when I took my AP US History exam, I saw similar material in my SAT II test the following day. They even used the same cartoons and images.

I agree with the above responses but from what I heard, some AP tests have a really large range for what they consider a "5" while their SAT counterpart might be a bit harder to do well on.

I do think the above posts hit the nail on the head though.

yes, i agree with everyone else
my friend got a 720 in us history sat II but a 5 in ap us history
so w/e.......but it depends on each subject
the language ones are similar though.....such as ap italian or sat II italian....

Well, I'm taking Bio and Us
and I'm in those two AP Classes

although i havent learned anything in AP Bio since perhaps January

I have heard that names, dates, places (the details) tend to be on the SAT II more and concepts/ideas are more on the AP.

If you are taking APUSH right now, it will pay to pick up an SAT II study guide for US History to refresh your memory on some of the stats.

I am also taking the bio/ushistory route this May. I'll be taking SATIIs and APs for both.

For Ushistory, I am only using my amsco book. For Bio I have too practice books: A Princeton Review AP book and a Kaplan SATII book.

I took the AP Biology and SAT II Biology (M) exams one month apart... I personally found the supplemental part (Molecular) of the SAT II to be extremely difficult in comparison to the AP exam, but the main portion was a joke. Maybe the biology E section would have been easier... I should also mention that although I was in a biology class (not AP) at the time, I did not use a separate review book to prepare for the SAT II.
SAT II Biology (M): 690 (molecular section screwed me up bad...)
AP Biology Exam: 4

I also took an AP European History exam... wasn't too tough either. (again, I wasn't in an AP class for that)

AP is longer and therefore probably harder.

But in college admissions I am almost sure that SAT II's are more important.
