SAT II's vs AP/IB Tests

I'm currently a junior and enrolled in all IB classes. I'm taking 5 AP tests at the end of this year and I took 1 freshman year and 2 sophmore year. I'll also be taking 4 IB HL tests at the end of senior year. None of the schools I want to apply to require SAT II's, but as far as college admissions go, will I be in a disadvantage if I don't take any, or am I fine with the tests I'm already taking?

APs and IBs aren’t really substitutes for SAT IIs (though they look great on a college application!). If I were you, I’d take them anyway. They will never put you at a disadvantage, since a bad score can be taken out of the picture with Score Choice.

Especially if some of your AP classes are related to an SAT II subject, taking your SAT IIs right around the AP exams means you aren’t taking any trouble to study specifically for the SAT IIs. There are actually quite a few APs that overlap with SATs. A few that come to mind are AP World, APUSH, and AP foreign language classes. The SAT II Lit exam can be taken without much studying at all, if you’re good at reading comprehension.

Thanks for the chance! :)

Thanks Keilinger that’s very helpful. Does anyone else have an opinion about this?

Sorry this is an important question and I need to bump. The thing is, I’d hate to sacrifice a couple Saturday’s and a couple hundred bucks if I didn’t have to.

subject tests are $15 each… dont be so melodramatic

oops. that’s a lot better
