SAT IIs

I'm a little confused on Vanderbilt's policy for SAT IIs. My dad talked to an admissions person on the phone a couple of weeks ago and he said not to bother taking the SAT IIs right now. But on Vanderbilt's website it says that you need to have 2 (I think, somewhere around there) SAT II scores before you enter in the fall. I would like to go ahead and get these over with if they are necessary, but I don't want to take them if I don't need to.

Maybe the admissions person meant not to take them YET, but if I get accepted, take them sometime in the spring?

Can someone clear this up?

Vanderbilt does not use SAT II scores for purposes of admission. After admission, the registrar uses your SAT II scores for purposed of placement in courses. If you haven't taken your SAT II's by the time of your admission, you can take them at SAOP during the summer. You don't even have to wait six weeks for your score -- they have them scored by the afternoon during your advising session.
