sat IIs

How are the SAT II's considered in admissions? I know they should basically support your strengths...but looking @ the percentiles I see that even 750+ in some SAT IIs are like 70-ish percentile...but is that because people who take those tests are generally strong in those subjects?
so would "average" scores for harvard (740-770ish) bring down a strong SAT 1 or would they not be a big deal unless the SAT IIs were much lower? Or the other way around..can very good SAT IIs bring up a "average" SAT I? which one would have the greater difference? What the ____ am I talking about?
why do all my posts not make any sense? thanks for anyone who can decipher this and help out...

The people who take the SAT II's generally are the ones who apply to the big expensive schools that require them. Basically, the people who take them have better funded prep. If you come from modest means, they'll give you a break on them (unless you get like a 400 on them). In the 600s should show that you are intellegent in that field, and actually have more room to grow in that field. 500's can be pushing it, but still possible. Just remember: study! And, do well on those essays!

My school has NO prep/tutoring opportunities and the avg SAT is a 989. I was like the only one to take the SATII and I got 710 on Biology E but a 640 on both Math level 1 and US History.

I am confident that I can raise those two scores at least to the upper 600s but i dont know about 700s. Will coming from my type of school sort of will make them cut me some slack in this. I mean it shows ability to work with what you have. I got a 4 on US History so I dont know what the heck happened in History. Math 1 I just could NOT finish.

Ah yes...this fateful SAT II saturday morning on Nov 5

I don't want to go. :(

Don't worry over it too much apfreak. SAT IIs won't ruin you, just get you in the door. You go to a crappy school like me, so they will cut you some slack. In fact, from what I've seen, they are more inclined to take a poor person with lower stats than a poor person with higher ones. I don't know exactly why... maybe most of the people who did well on the SAT had no life outside of that?

Remember: if you go to a ****ty school, SAT scores act more as a measure of your ability to do the work and less as a determinent of admission. If you have a high GPA/rank and a decent score (upper 1200s and 1300s, 600s on subject tests) you fair a chance if they love your subjective material. If you were rich/upper class, however, a "decent" score by my definition would most likely get your file a place in the round file (AKA trash can), unless you could give them a few million for a building.
