Are subject tests only required if you are submitting the SAT? I just got my Dec scores back and got a 2260, but I still only want to turn in my ACT (35). Do I still have to submit my subject tests?

What school are you asking about? Everyone has a slightly different policy concerning test score requirements…

Yale is one of the only schools I know that allows you to submit an ACT w/ Writing in place of the SAT and two Subject tests.

UPenn does this as well.

Check with the schools you’re applying to make sure.

besides, sending in a 2260 wouldn’t hurt at all if you are required to.

Many selective schools do this, but not all.

The OP needs to check the college websites; for instance, Dartmouth requires 2 Subject tests whether you submit the SAT or ACT.

There is no single answer and nothing that substitutes for reading college websites for testing requirements and Score Choice policies.

Go here [Compass: Admissions Requirements](<a href=“SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group”>SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group) for a list of colleges that require, recommend or consider SAT subject tests. In the required column you will see that for some of the colleges there is an * next to the required number of subject tests. The * next to the number means the college accepts the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT subject tests. If there is no * next to the number in the required column, the college still requires subject tests even if you submit ACT.

^This is a great place to start, the introduction to the list states:

I’m not familiar with each school on the list, but I will note that the footnote for the * states:

While most colleges let you choose submit any 2 Subject tests, sometimes colleges, or departments within a college (eg. Engineering), will require certain Subject tests to be sent. This information is detailed on the college website but may not be noted on compilations such as this; that’s why the individual college websites should always be consulted.

Thank you all for the info.

It looks like SAT + 2 subject tests meet requirement for most schools. ACT alone won’t cut it. SAT+ACT also don’t make it through most schools although it would meet the requirement for some schools.

So if you take SAT + 2 subject tests that gives you most bang for the buck. Do you agree?

I have not seen anywhere SAT subject tests grades or scores? You know we often hear SAT scores but have not seen or heard subject tests scores. Anyone knows?
