Everyone posts their SAT II scores in the rd roster, but I'm wondering how much do they actually matter in the admissions process?

i have in the low 600's , are my chances of getting killed?

farbdogg71, have you taken the SAT IIs? (you said "no SAT IIs" in RD forum)... I hope that you have taken them or taken the ACT, because SAT IIs are required if you aren't submitting an ACT score in place of them. http://www.duke.edu/web/ug-admissions/apply.htm <--click on "standardized testing requirements and deadlines:"

no im taking them in january and having them sent then, i was just wondering how important they actually are

well, to answer that question, i have no idea :)

They are very important, I believe. Well, at least as important as your SAT or ACT scores. The reason is, is that they further distinguish you from the other applicants. Additionally, if you are applying to Pratt they weigh them much more heavily than normal. There is a completely different formula used for admitting students to Pratt than to Trinity. If I'm not mistaken, Pratt weighs your standardized test scores twice or three times as heavily as Trinity. So, if you are applying there, I would worry more about them than if you're doing Trinity where they take a more holistic approach to your app.

ok thanks, i was just curious about that

Question ... at Pratt, is a slightly lower SAT I Math score (730) going to hurt me if I have an 800 in Math IIC, an 800 in Physics, and a 5 in AP Calc? Do you think this would make a significant difference on my testing rating?

I also have a 790 on the SAT I Verbal and a 800 on the Writing.

Joey

lol **** u have perfect everything, i got in ED with a 720 math.... 5 on ap calc, 780iic, 800physics, 35ACT math, 710writing

I dont think it will matter that much if u have 730.. esp since u have really high/perfect everytthing else.
